The 1988 category on Australia's Consolidated List for individuals and entities designated under the United Nations Taliban sanctions regime, created when Security Council resolution 1988 of 17 June 2011 separated Taliban listings from the resolution 1267 list. Listing targets those associated with the Taliban in constituting a threat to Afghanistan's peace, stability and security; Australia applies the resulting asset freeze, travel ban and arms embargo under the Charter of the United Nations Act 1945.
