Executive Order 14404, signed on 1 May 2026, imposes sanctions on those responsible for repression in Cuba and threats to US national security, building on the national emergency declared that January in Executive Order 14380. The Treasury may block persons operating in named Cuban sectors, Cuban government officials, those engaged in serious abuse or corruption, their adult family members, and foreign banks facilitating their transactions.
