Executive Order 14098, signed on 4 May 2023 after fighting erupted between rival Sudanese security forces, expands the long-standing US national emergency concerning Sudan. It authorises blocking persons who threaten Sudan's peace, security or stability, obstruct the formation of a civilian transitional government or the democratic transition, commit serious human-rights abuses, or obstruct humanitarian assistance, and suspends their entry into the United States.
